I'm Becca Dzombak (she/her, pronounced "duh-zom-back"), a science writer and editor with a Ph.D. in Earth & Environmental Sciences (scholarly works here). I write to make academic research accessible for anyone who's curious, not only for people with advanced degrees, and to keep science grounded in society. And because I get to keep learning, continually, about new things!

I'm interested in writing stories about people and the natural world, from sustainable agriculture and environmental impacts of climate change to our planet's past and what floats beyond our atmosphere. I strive to center voices that historically have been excluded from both science and science stories.

In addition to freelancing, I work on the American Geophysical Union's media team, where I cover all things Earth and space science.
